Birmingham  

Permanent, Part Time (24 hpw)

We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally where possible. 

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers, who have a primary mental health support need. Our service is provided in floating support and residential setting, where you will be going into customers homes and in the community to meet their support needs. Our team describe themselves as friendly and approachable. In fact, when new members have joined us in the past, its been said that they felt welcomed by colleagues and our customers from day one.

They live in a 19-bed accommodation-based service in Handsworth, which is near the heart of Birmingham City Centre. The service has lovely period features with communal lounge and a large garden for customers to use.

We help our customers to promote their independence so they can reach their goals and fulfil their ambitions. We use a support model which enables us to take positive calculated risks, ensuring our customers have a voice and a choice in all aspects of their support. We focus on what our customers can do, and step in to support when that extra bit of encouragement is required.

About our team

Youll be working alongside our fabulous team, who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team were a €œwork family€.

Our manager is Taranjit, who has been managing services for vulnerable customer groups including customer groups with mental health for 20 years and has been a manager at Home Group for over 10 years. There are 11 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! You will be joining our coordinator Shaunna and a team of support workers Nima/Sherbaz/Kavita/Ammara/ Ikra, who have unique skills, personalities and ideas. Our team is linked into our accommodation-based service, and have a dedicated Coordinator Carrie and Support Worker Alex, all with excellent experience, so you are in safe hands.

Working hours  

Youll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8am-8pm and take your turn working evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

About you

Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!

To keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

To make sure our customers are well supported, its important that you have worked in a supported housing and mental health environment before. Dont worry, we wont drop you in the deep end, well help to you understand how things work at Home Group!

As this is a community-based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Dont worry, well pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
