Support Worker

Bishop Auckland, Durham

Permanent, Full Time (33.5 hpw)

At Home Group its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us (and not just during this challenging time). We are doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally where possible. 

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers, who are age 16-35 old and at risk of homelessness.

Our customers live in fully furnished supported accommodation comprising of 4 properties across Bishop Auckland, these vary from shared to self-contained accommodation. Our core house offers 24/7 support from our team, which is also the main office.

We help to support our customers with many aspects of their lives. As a specialist service in mental health we have our own clinical staff on site to assist staff with the best support to help achieve a customers goals. We offer support in daily living skills including, claiming benefits, access to education and learning to cook. Our aim is to help customers achieve the confidence and skills to move from supported to independent accommodation.

About our team

Youll be working alongside our fabulous team, who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team were a €œwork family€. Our manager is Nicole Brown, who has worked for Home Group and at Teesdale House for 3 years. There are 9 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! 

Working hours 

We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. Youll work on a rota basis and take your turn working weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

About you

Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

We help change our customers lives for the better. Youll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. Youll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers. We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together well make a difference!

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however its your €œcan do€ positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

As this is a community-based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Dont worry, well pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
