Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. Thats when it hits home.

Its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us. We're doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally.

We have a rewarding opportunity for you to join our Transforming Care team, supporting our brilliant customers to live a fulfilling life in their own home within the local community.  Our team support our customers who have complex presentations, which may include, learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism and communication differences, alongside ongoing physical health conditions. They may also have a forensic background and potential to display behaviours of concern.

The customer that you will be supporting is a women with a wide range of interests and a caring nature.  Her family is very important to her and she just loves spending time with them.  She also has a big love of fashion and clothes, likes to be well dressed as well as clean and tidy both in herself and in her home.  She absolutely loves pamper sessions (so if you like them too, youll really get along).  She would love to own a pet; a cat, fish and turtle are on her wish list (we wonder which one shell get first?).  Youll work alongside our Occupational Therapist to find innovative ways for her to participate in daily living activities aimed at increasing her independence.

About our team
Youll be working alongside our fabulous team of PBS Support Workers, PBS Team Leaders and Clinical colleagues who are super passionate about supporting our customer to reach her goals and celebrate her achievements.  Alongside your PBS Team Leaders (were currently recruiting to these roles too), youll have loads of support on hand from our Kent clinical and management team.   Kerry, our Clinical Registered Manager has loads of experience from working in the NHS and outside of work youll find her spending her free time taking walks along the beach or on her love for horses.  Lucy, our Deputy Manager, has worked with people with learning disabilities and those who communicate differently for over ten years, and shes also a keen rugby player!  Youll also work alongside Antonietta our Clinical Psychologist, who will regularly run wellbeing sessions for you and the team, and Wesley our Occupational Therapist who together will help you design and deliver a brilliant support package for our customer.

Where youll work
Youll work primarily with our one female customer in her own home in Rainham, as well as supporting her in the community. But there may be opportunities to work with our other customers in Kent!  You can use public transport to support our customer and well pay your expenses to cover this!).

Working hours
Our customer needs support 24/7 to meet her needs, so youll take your turn on a rota which could include working days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and waking nights. You may also be required to do sleeps ins in which an enhancement will be paid.  As were asking you to be flexible for our customer, well also give you the time back that you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you! Our rotas provide the support needed in the most flexible way possible.

Bank
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  That way, you can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your current role to earn some extra cash.

About you
Youre passionate and motivated to support our customer with any aspect of their day to day living. Youll impress us with your ability to work in a person centred, strengths-based and psychologically informed way, supporting your customers to enjoy the best possible quality of life.   Youll help change their life for the better by involving them (and their support network) in working towards their aspirations and achievements. Youll use our exciting new support practice model LIFE (Living Independently, Feeling Enabled) to deliver brilliant support by working closely to develop their own individual LIFE book.  Well tell you all about it when we meet you!  Youll provide personal care in a strengths based way to facilitate greater independence, as well as use creative solutions, and assistive technology where available, to support independence.
Its important that you have worked in a supported housing environment before, preferably with people that display behaviours of concern, are willing to provide personal care and have experience of helping customers to reach their full potential.  Holding a level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care, youll have a great understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding, risk assessment, case management and working with personalised support plans. It would be great if you have some previous experience of positive behaviour support, but its not a deal breaker.

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
